Arax Studio took these photographs of André Drapp, who won the titles Mr. France and Le Plus Bel Athlete de France in 1947.
As you can read in the article from the October, 1947 issue of
Health & Strength magazine, André had been entering bodybuilding contests since the late 1930's before he reached the top.
Like many bodybuilders in the 1950's, he became a very popular wrestler and entertained audiences well into the 1960's.

The man lofted into the air in two of these images, Bert won the titles Iron Man in 1953 and Mr. Southern California in 1954.

I nearly fell out of my chair when I came across these exquisite photographs from the 1950's of Don Fuller posing outdoors with Kip Behar.
I especially like the image of Don pointing at something to the left, both men squinting into the sun.
I do not know who took these photographs.

A reader recognized the location of the outdoors image as the Pulgas Water Temple near the Crystal Springs Reservoir in a hiking area south of San Francisco, California.

The Western Photography Guild took these nice images of Dale Gilbert, who won the titles Mr. Iowa, Mr. Mid-West, Iowa Middleweight Lifting Champion and Mid-West Middleweight Lifting Champion in 1956 and Mr. South West in 1957.
