The holiday season is a tough time to stay on track. Face it, it’s time for a break. You needed to rest your dedication, celebrate and enjoy the body you’ve been building, and enjoy life.
You’re all set. You’ve got the office and friends’ party season behind you, and you’ve fulfilled your family obligations. You even indulged every crazy whim of NYE and now you’re back in the gym, back to building your body. What a relief!! Right?
The thing to do now isn’t to regret the celebrating – relaxation and letting go recharges the brain. Now it’s time to lay your plans for advancing your brawn in 2014. Real plan means real gains. Take some time to think about it. You’ve got time before the summer season, so what are you going to do?
Take a look at the gyms and programs available, kickboxing, MMA, group classes, cardio. Make some plans.
Think about nutrition, too. Make some plans, not just a vague intention to eat “better.” Everyone knows that you build the muscles in the gym, but reveal them in the kitchen.
Take time to make a workable meal plan that you can sustain with your job and social commitments, rather than create unrealistic expectations for yourself.
- Where will you get your groceries?
- What’s your budget?
- Where can you eat lunches?
- Is there a fridge at work for the healthy lunches and snacks you can bring?
Think about getting an accountability buddy for your fitness, someone who cares about your goals and will help you stick to them – even when you have a weak day or two and don’t want to.
That’s someone who you’ll give up some vulnerability to by giving them the power to push you to your goals.
It can be anyone from a trusted friend, to a workout buddy, or a professional trainer. Think of doing the same for your nutritional goals.
Have a healthy and happy 2014!
