One of the best things about living in Mexico is the climate. With all this talk about the Polar Vortex and record freezing temperatures in both the US and Canada, It’s time to hit the warm beaches of Mexico.
Mexico is famous for it’s beautiful beaches. From Puerto Vallarta on the west coast and all the way to Tulum on the Caribbean, here are my picks for Mexico’s top 3 gay friendly beach destinations.
1) Puerto Vallarta
The top beach destination for gay tourists worldwide, Puerto Vallarta is the friendliest gay city in all of Mexico. This premier resort town has a bustling gay nightlife, progressive and modern restaurants with great shopping. The Playa Los Muertos beach is the main gay beach in town. It is where all the chiseled and tanned boys hang out. There are exclusive gay hotels such as The Blue Chairs but most of the town’s hotels are all gay friendly. From piano bars, clubs and after hour parties, PV has something for gays of all ages.
2) Playa Del Carmen
Playa del Carmen is the alternative to super gay Vallarta. it has a more relaxed atmosphere. It also attracts more gay European tourists as opposed to the Canadians and Americans who flock to PV. The city also feels less crowded and hectic than other beach towns. That scene however changes at the end of January when Arena Festival comes in to town. It’s a 10 day party that brings the hottest men from all over the globe to party with the best DJ’s and gay promoters worldwide.
Located on Mexico’s Mayan Riviera, Tulum has become a favorite amongst east coast gays. The 3 hour flight from NYC and less than 2 hour flight from Miami make this beach destination easily accessible. Tulum’s scene is more earthy and eco friendly. It’s kind of a gay bohemian crowd that sports Rolex watches, Hermes towels- equipped with the latest iPhone- all using GuySpy of course. Being that GuySpy is so massive in Mexico, it’s the best place to find other well to do traveling Mexicans and locals. Tulum has also become a favorite getaway for gay A – Listers like Brian Atwood, Tom Ford and a plethora of supermodels. Tulum has become the “it” beach of Mexico in recent years.
